For Camera Buffs – We Compare the Samsung Galaxy S10s and the Galaxy Note 9. Which is most recommended?

Bottom Line: We would recommend the S10 or S10+ for you.

The Note 9 is a good phone and comes with a stylus pen, but the Galaxy S10 trumps the Note 9 in our opinion for the following reasons:

1.) You can upgrade your Galaxy S10 and S10+ to 512GB or 1TB storage for all your photos.

2.) The Galaxy S10 now has a display as large as the Note 9, but uses Samsung’s new Dynamic OLED panel, which has a bit sharper resolution at 3040 X 1440 Full HD+ display with 550 pixels per inch, compared to the Note 9’s 2960 x 1440.

3.) Although both the Note 9 and the Galaxy S10 come with a pair of 12-megapixel cameras, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ both include a 3rd lens on the back, being a 16 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera and a 12 megapixel  telephoto lens.  This is a big advantage for photographers that want to capture that amazing unforgettable photograph!

4.) The S10 has the ability to recognize 30 different scenes and adjust camera setting accordingly, where the Note 9 can recognize 20 scenes.

5.) The Galaxy S10 has a second 8-megapixel depth-sensing lens in the front for selfies, which Samsung says can improve your portrait photos and also capture Ultra-HD video also.

6.) The Galaxy S10 and S10 + include the new Wireless PowerShare feature that allows you to use any S10 as a reverse charger to wirelessly power up other Samsung devices.

7.) The larger 4,100 mAh battery in the S10+ outlasts the Note 9 with 4,000 mAh battery by one hour. The Galaxy S10 includes a 3,400 mAh battery.

8.) The Note 9 comes with 6GB of memory, which can be upgraded to 8 GB. However the Galaxy S10+ ships with 8GB of RAM and can be upgraded to 12GB of RAM.

We hope this comparison helps with your decision. In our opinion the Samsung Galaxy S10 beats the completion hands down.

This is great timing. I have a S8+ now and take a lot of nature pictures that require different settings. Some of these settings are hard to find on the present phone. After reading your article the S10+ looks like the correct phone for me. I think I have to wait until July for a free upgrade though.
Do you have any experience with the additional lenses that are available to attach to the phone for other effects.

Thank you for your comment and question, John. The Galaxy S10 and S10 + have the following built in additional lenses already incorporated in the camera in addition to the front and back 12 megapixel lenses:
Back of camera, 16 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera and a 12 megapixel telephoto lens.
Front of camera, a second lens, 8-megapixel depth-sensing lens, improves photos and creates an Ultra HD effect.
For the Galaxy S10+, this is 5 cameras (two in front and 3 in back), and no lens bags!
Multi-camera with Ultra Wide Camera, with unprecedented 123 degree panoramic field of view.

I have not found any available exterior lenses that attach to the Galaxy S10+
    I hope this helps:)
